Stargate Worlds :
Chris Bernert, Senior Game Designer
Sep 25, 2006
Jack O'Neill has competition. Smart, witty and able to deliver one-liners in a perfect way, Chris Bernert explains why at Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, Game Design is a fun job but somebody has to do it...
"A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away…"

No, that's not it.

"Space, the Final Frontier…"

Nah, not that one either.

"I want to live. I want to experience the universe, and I want to eat pie."

That's it…

I love the quirkiness of Stargate: SG1. I love the fact that even though all hope is lost and the Replicators or Ori or some other Super Alien Badass of the Week is just about to overwhelm the makeshift defenses and rend our heroes limb from limb, Jack O'Neil lets rip a one liner so perfectly non sequitur that it instantly makes the situation laughable. That is until something dreadful happens and that's where Stargate: SG1 hits me hardest. Man, I love that show.

Ok, I suppose this is a bio and that I should write some pithy description of my long arduous journey to CME but that's not why you're here. You're here because of Jack O'Neil's one liners. You're here because of a show that spans ten seasons and countless memorable moments. You're here for the fun and danger of the Stargate Universe. You're here for the same exact reasons I am. Well I'm here for all that plus a paycheck but never mind that. Oh and plus I get to make an MMO that can redefine the genre but never mind that either. Plus I get to work with some legends in the industry as well but really, pay no mind to that either. I won't even mention the beer but I'm here for that also.

Alright, alright I'll tell you a little bit about myself so Katie will get off my back.

I'm a California guy, born and raised. I like long walks on the beach, camping, hiking, and candlelight dinners. Whoops, wrong type of profile…

Okie dokie, time for some seriousness. I have been in the game industry going on 8 years now. I worked with Chris Klug on Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Dominion Wars and it was great fun. I did brief stint at a studio that produced console games but realized my passion resided in the MMO space, so after working on Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online at Turbine, I came to CME when Chris tracked me down and presented me with this great opportunity.

So far so good and from what we have planned, the best is yet to come, so get ready to eat some mighty fine pie...

Chris Bernert
